From the close observation of natural phenomena, the ancient Chinese physicians identified specific processes and rules that apply to the human organism just as they do to other elements of the natural world.

Over thousands of years, generations of healers developed and refined a system of medicine based on this understanding of the oneness of internal and external phenomena, microcosm and macrocosm.

So these early scientists succeeded in codifying complex processes into a series of coherent concepts that proved effective in their daily therapeutic work. At the root of these concepts are the polarities of hot and cold, fullness and emptiness, yin and yang etc.

In traditional Chinese medicine, diseases are differentiated according to syndromes or symptom complexes, i.e. according to energetic criteria, and differentiation of syndromes forms the basis of treatment.

For the diagnosis of Chinese syndromes, the patient completes the Chinese Diagnostic Questionnaire. Another important diagnostic tool is Chinese tongue diagnosis and in some cases Chinese pulse diagnosis.

Based on the overall picture provided by this diagnostic method, and taking into account also the data obtained by conventional Western medical methods, we develop a treatment plan tailored to the needs of the individual patient. The goal is ultimately not to eliminate or suppress symptoms, but to bring about a healing of the whole person. TCM diagnosis is also the basis for Chinese herbal therapy.
